Apa oxigenata se prezinta sub forma unei solutii diluate in apa, instabila care se descompune .instantantaneu in apa si oxigen. Solutia are capacitatea de a curata plagile cutanate benigne si de a asigura antisepsia acestora. Sunt cunoscute de asemenea si proprietatile hemostatice ale solutiei in cursul epistaxisului
