După aplicarea in tesuturi, buretele de gelatina se resoarbe dupa aproximativ 3 saptamani. La aplicarea pe pielea sangeranda sau mucoase, buretele este dizolvat dupa 3-5 zile. Absoarbe de aproximativ 50 de ori greutatea sa, are un PH neutru si nu da nastere la reactii alergice.
