Tuburile BD Vacutainer EDTA sunt, in general folosite pentru determinari heamtologice ale sangelui integral. Ele sunt disponibile intr-o gama larga de dimensiuni, sunt din plastic si pot fi identificate dupa capacul violet. In general, substanta K2 sare potasica de EDTA (Ethylene Diamine Tetra Acetic acid) este folosita ca anticoagulant. In tuburile BD Vacutainer EDTA din plastic, peretele interior este siliconat cu aditiv. Amestecarea recomandata: tuburile EDTA trebuiesc intoarse usor la 180º de 8-10 ori.
